Resentment is a term derived originally from the French term used in psychology and philosophy. In philosophy the term was introduced by the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900). In response to the philosopher Max Scheler (1874-1928) on the work of Nietzsche is the notion of resentment a central role.

Resentment as a technical term

Resentment is a psychological self-poisoning in the mistaken about values. This auto-intoxication is always caused by a perversity in the drive, which one is best for good or bad or less keep what is good. In the value of his inability to realize the other one will ignore the value of others.

Resentment is a reactive tendency: an emotional response to something that has played over a longer period. It reveals itself as an emotional this reactionary attitude towards all worldly experience. Resentment in the strict sense occurs when a person in there is a total absence of moral sense itself in attempts to overcome those regarding the cause of his resentment. Always there is a weakness in the person charged with resentment. This powerlessness is associated with obstinacy, or psychic numbing, which means that all hostile emotions hidden in the dark depths of the soul, that it is constantly fed with this emotional poison so that the hatred of its object or objects still growing.

Independently of any activity of the ego takes the resentment over time held by a person or a group of people, if you feel in that state of hostility had deterred from taking direct action against the cause or causes of this resentment. Consequently, the systematic oppression of an inner explosion of certain feelings and affections.  

The resentment person dies himself in this dormant state of repressed hostile reaction that manifests itself in hatred, revenge, anger, jealousy, envy and falsehood: feelings that initially has no practical intentions, but later as well still be develop.

Resentment appears in people who are emotionally damaged, and is the driving force behind the reactionary resistance to such suffering. The tendency to get down to the satisfaction of the other and threatening the positive value of the object gives, grows and makes more and more opportunities to be seized in order to achieve inner satisfaction. Victims of individuals resentment, resentment and the individuals themselves, understand less and less of the negativity and hatred against them, a concept which determines the future relationship between the aggressor and the victim.
